John A. C. Gibson, the firm’s co-founder passed away in 2024. His years of mentorship have left behind a lasting legacy.

A Texas native and California resident since 1988, John received a B.A. in Government from The University of Texas, an M.A. in Political Science from Ohio State University, and a J.D. from George Washington University.

John began working as a non-lawyer professional in the field of alcoholic beverage licensing and compliance in 1988, and after being admitted to the California Bar, started his own practice in 1991.

In 2021 John joined forces with his long-time protégé Rik Jeffery to found Gibson & Jeffery, LLP which continues to provide top-notch legal service to the alcoholic beverage and hospitality industries in large part because of the years of dedication and wisdom that John was able to pass on.
